Diane Pamel- Southworth Library in Dryden, New York- in the Finger Lakes area. Our library serves a rural community and there is not a lot to do directly in our village.  Ithaca and Cornell University are not far away, but our teens don't have too much in town except the library.  We have been doing Teen Takeover programs once a week in the evenings for kids going into 6th grade and up.  We have planned a variety of programs to try to reach some of our non-typical library teens with movies, art projects, science activities and some books. The local juvenile residential center has come over with some of their teens as well. We do ask for sign ups but we never really know how many kids will show up especially as families go on vacation. One night we had 25 kids and another just 6. It makes it challenging to plan! How do you best publicize your events?  Kids don't use email or facebook much anymore it seems. Thanks for the help!

This is three of four branches of the Alcona County Library in the Northeastern Lower Peninsula of Michigan. We serve about 10,000 people and our main branch is in Harrisville, MI. Along the sunny shores of Lake Huron. Our branches are in Hubbard Lake (not pictured), Lincoln and Mikado, Michigan.

The mission of the Alcona County Library is to serve "the community by providing intelletual, educational, and cultural opportunities."

We have a staff of 15, including our director Denise Bearre, asst. director Lynn VanderLinde, admin. asst. Jan Plamondon, tech guru Joe Thomas, and Children's Specialist Stacy Kelly.

How did everyone's summer programs do?  Have you submitted all the things?  I have, my programs went well this year.  And I am exhausted. :)

I feel ours went off without a hitch! I feel your exhaustion, always after SRP are finished. But, I am already thinking of next year!

I'm pretty sure I got everything covered, except the final report. I'll be working on that next week :)

We are always planning ahead!  Yes, I'll be working on that next week also.
