2014 Summer Reading Grants

Courtesy of the Dollar General Literacy Foundation, YALSA will be giving out two types of grants.

The Summer Reading Teen Intern Grant will award $1,000 to each of 20 libraries for the purpose of hiring summer teen interns to assist with summer reading activities.

The Summer Reading Resources Grant will award $1,000 to each of 20 libraries in need with the purpose of helping them purchase resources to bolster their teen summer reading program.

Eligible applicants can apply now through January 1, 2014. Recipients will be notified during the week of February 17, 2014. An official announcement will be released about a month after.

To determine if you are eligible, you must answer yes to the following questions:

  • Is your summer reading program administered through a library?
  • Is your program open to all teens in the community?
  • Do you work directly with teens?
  • Are you a personal member of YALSA?
  • Is your library within 20 miles of a Dollar General store?  Find out at Dollar General's Store Locator.

To apply, please visit the links below for each respective grant application. Applicants are required to complete & attach an itemized budget to their application. Please download the respective budget template below and upload it in the space provided in the online application form.
